How much do Avroy Shlain Beauty Advisors earn? A Beauty Advisor earns 25% on what she sells, calculated before VAT — she buys at the Beauty Advisor price, sells at the brochure price, and the difference is her profit. Once she leads a team, she earns commission on her team's sales on top of that, starting at 8% a month and climbing to 13% at the highest level.

That's the answer almost nobody puts in writing. If you've searched this question, you'll know how hard it is to find a straight number. I'm Liza Truter, a Group Manager with Avroy Shlain and the leader of the Stay Ravishing team, and I'd rather you had the real figures — because this is a real, learnable business, and a real business deserves real numbers.

How does Avroy Shlain commission work?

Every product in the brochure effectively has two prices: the brochure price your customer pays, and the Beauty Advisor price you pay when you place the order with head office. The gap between the two works out to 25% of the selling price, before VAT.

The money moves like this:

1. Your customer orders from this month's brochure and pays you the brochure price.
2. You place the order and pay head office the Beauty Advisor price.
3. The difference stays with you — immediately.

Notice that on your own sales, nobody "pays you commission" at month-end. You simply keep the margin, which is better: it's in your pocket the day your customer pays you.

What does 25% look like in real rands?

Here's an illustrative basket built from real specials in the August 2026 brochure (all valid until 31 August 2026):

Call that roughly R2,000 of orders. To keep the maths simple and honest: if you sold R2,000 of orders, you'd keep about R500. That's an illustration, not a promise — and it's "about" because the 25% is worked out on the amount before VAT.

That basket is four customers taking one deal each. Some months look exactly like that, some are quieter, and some are far bigger — which brings us to the ladder.

How much do Avroy Shlain Beauty Advisors earn at each level?

The 25% never changes — it's yours at every level, forever. What changes as you grow is that you can build your own team and earn commission on what your team sells, on top of your own 25%.

To be clear about what this table is: it shows the team sales needed in a month to qualify at each level, and the commission rate that applies there. It says nothing about what any particular person earns — that depends entirely on the team she has built and how her month went.

How do Avroy Shlain Beauty Advisors get paid?

There are two streams, and they run on two different rhythms:

• Your own sales — immediately. Customers pay you directly: cash, EFT, whatever you arrange between you. You pay head office the Beauty Advisor price when you place the order, and the difference is already in your hands.
• Team commission — monthly. Once you lead a team, commission on your team's sales is calculated on the month's figures and paid to you monthly.

One thing worth knowing on the cost side: as a Beauty Advisor, delivery of your own stock orders is free over R550 to your door, or over R750 to a PAXI collection point. On a decent order, your products reach you at no extra cost, so the margin you keep stays whole.

What decides whether you earn a little or a lot?

This is the part I refuse to dress up. The 25% is fixed; what varies enormously is how much selling passes through it, and in my experience three habits explain most of the difference:

How consistently you share the brochure. A new brochure arrives every month. The Beauty Advisors who earn steadily treat it like clockwork — every contact sees the new specials in the first week, every month, whether last month was good or bad. The ones who earn "sometimes" share it sometimes.

How many people can see it. Your contact list is your shop window. Someone with 40 contacts who shares faithfully can out-earn someone with 400 who doesn't — but growing the list matters too, and it grows naturally when customers pass the brochure on to sisters, friends and colleagues.

Notice what's not on that list: being a born salesperson. If you're already the friend who shares her finds — the one people ask "where did you get that?" — you have the raw material. The rest is habit, and habits can be taught.

Is there a salary?

No. There's no salary, no basic, no retainer. Being a Beauty Advisor is your own independent business, run through direct selling: you earn from what you sell and, later, from the team you build. That cuts both ways — nothing is guaranteed, but nothing is capped either, and nobody sets your hours or your targets except you.
