Avroy Shlain CRT Anti-Ageing Routine: Morning & Night
By Liza Truter · 4 September 2026 · 8 min read

A complete Avroy Shlain CRT anti-ageing routine is far simpler than the shelf makes it look. It's five steps — cleanse, tone, serum, treat, moisturise — done morning and night, and only two of those steps change between day and evening. Get that order right and the CRT range does exactly what it was built to do: work on the appearance of fine lines, firmness and loss of tone, consistently, twice a day.
I'm Liza, a Group Manager who actually sells these products, and the CRT question I get most isn't "does it work?" — it's "I've got the serum and the day cream, now which one goes on first?" So here is the full routine, built around the six CRT products in this September's catalogue, in the exact order I'd hand you if you were standing at my kitchen table. If you want the range itself explained first, I've done that in the Avroy Shlain CRT range explained.

Your CRT morning routine, step by step
Morning is about protection and a fresh, awake finish under makeup.
- Cleanse — CRT 2-in-1 Foam Cleanser. Pump the foam into damp palms, massage over the face in small circles, rinse and pat dry. It lifts away the oils that built up overnight without leaving skin tight.
- Tone — CRT 2-in-1 Toner & Exfoliator. A little onto cotton wool, swept gently over the face. In the morning I use it purely as a toner; save the exfoliating side for two or three evenings a week (more on that below).
- Serum — the Vitamin C Oil Serum from the Power Pair. A few drops pressed in with upward strokes, then a minute to absorb. Vitamin C belongs in the morning — it's an antioxidant step that sits happily under everything that follows.
- Treat — CRT Youth Gel. A thin layer on clean, dry skin. This is the firming and contouring step; it slots in after your serum and before your cream. I've written the full ingredients-and-honesty piece on it in my write-up of the CRT Youth Gel, so I won't repeat all of that here.
- Moisturise — CRT Anti-Wrinkle Plumping Day Cream. Face and neck, as your last morning step. One reminder that matters in our sun: daytime skin needs sun protection, because UV is the single biggest driver of the visible signs of ageing — I explain exactly why in does sunscreen prevent wrinkles. Check your final morning layer covers you there.
Your CRT evening routine, step by step
Evening is about repair and richness, so two steps change.
- Cleanse — the same CRT 2-in-1 Foam Cleanser, this time to take the day off.
- Tone — CRT 2-in-1 Toner & Exfoliator. This is where the exfoliating side earns its keep, two or three nights a week, lifting away dull, dead surface cells so everything after it absorbs better. On the other nights, tone only.
- Serum — the 3-in-1 Hydration Serum from the Power Pair. The hydrating half of the pair goes on at night, when skin does most of its recovering. A few drops, pressed in.
- Treat — CRT Youth Gel again, same thin layer.
- Moisturise — CRT Timetouch Firming Face & Neck Cream. This is the richer cream of the two, and it's your final evening step — face and neck, because the neck ages just as fast and gets forgotten twice as often.
Notice that steps 1, 2 and 4 are identical morning and night. You're really learning one routine, not two — only the serum and the final cream swap over.
Who the CRT anti-ageing routine is for
Avroy Shlain lists the CRT range as suitable for all skin types, but honestly it earns its place from your mid-thirties onwards — when the first fine lines settle in, when skin feels less firm than it did, or when hormonal shifts start changing the rules. If you're noticing skin that looks a little slacker or more crêpey than it used to, the signs your skin is losing collagen and why wrinkles appear faster after 40 will sound familiar — and this is precisely the territory CRT's firming gel and richer creams are built for.
If you're in your twenties with no fine lines in sight, you don't need the full CRT routine yet. Start by working out your skin type and settle a simpler cleanse-tone-moisturise habit first. A R499 treatment gel over a routine you don't yet have is money in the wrong place.
What results to realistically expect
Two honest expectations to hold on to.
First, these are cosmetic results. CRT works on the appearance of fine lines and the feel of firmness — it's skincare, not a procedure — and results show while you use it and soften if you stop. Anything promising more than that is over-promising.
Second, consistency is the entire game. One serum used religiously for six weeks will show you more than six products used whenever you remember. Take a photo in good, natural light before you start, use the routine as directed for a full month, then compare the same light. Your own before-and-after beats any review online, including mine. And introduce products one at a time, with a 24-hour patch test on your inner forearm, so if your skin objects you know exactly what to.
Where to start if you can't buy all six at once
You don't have to. Here's how I'd phase it, using this month's real prices:
- Best-value start: the CRT Vitamin C Oil Serum + 3-in-1 Hydration Serum Power Pair, 2×30ml, is R499 — a saving of R499 this month. That's genuinely half price on the two serums that carry the routine, layered over whatever cleanser you already own.
- Add the treat step next: the CRT Youth Gel 50ml at R499, or the Youth Gel Duo (2×50ml) at R599, save R399 if you'd like one for now and one for later — or to split with a friend.
- Then round out cleanse and moisturise: the CRT 2-in-1 Foam Cleanser 150ml (R299, save R60), the CRT 2-in-1 Toner & Exfoliator 200ml (R475), the CRT Anti-Wrinkle Plumping Day Cream 50ml (R449) and the CRT Timetouch Firming Face & Neck Cream 50ml (R399, save R100).
A practical delivery note: orders of R750 or more from my online shop get free PAXI collection at any PEP store. The Power Pair plus the Youth Gel already clears that line, so your delivery costs you nothing. (Door-to-door delivery is available too, but it's never free.) If you'd rather see every current price on one page, my September price list is here, and how to order Avroy Shlain walks you through it.
CRT anti-ageing routine: your questions answered
Can I start all six products on the same day? I'd rather you didn't. Introduce one new product every few days so your skin has time to settle and you can spot anything that doesn't agree with you.
Which two products should I buy first? The Power Pair — the Vitamin C and Hydration serums — at R499. It's this month's standout CRT deal (save R499) and it's the two hardest-working steps of the routine in one box.
Do I really need the Youth Gel as well? It's the firming and contouring "treat" step, so it's optional in the way a treatment always is. If sagging or loss of firmness is your main concern, it's the piece doing that specific job — the detail is all in my Youth Gel post.
How often should I use the Toner & Exfoliator? As a toner, morning and night. As an exfoliant, two or three evenings a week is plenty — daily exfoliation can leave skin sensitised, which is the opposite of what you want.
How long before I see anything? Give it a month of honest, twice-daily use before you judge it. Cosmetic results build with consistency, not overnight.
